Lerocon

Lerocon AB's welding machines carry out resistance welding with a focus on welding fasteners. In this area of production, high standards of accuracy and quality are required, so there is little that can go wrong. In order to optimise production in areas such as these, Lerocon began designing and manufacturing automated stud welding machines for use in robotic cells several years ago.

These welding machines meet the highest customer requirements for those who work with the robot cells on the production floor.

Modular approach

To offer such a highly regarded product, you need a CAD system that can work in a modular fashion and allow you to work faster, better and faster. Lerocon had been "wrestling" for years with other CAD systems that went against the tried and tested method of designing welding machines. Lerocon found an ideal solution to the problem, spelled IRONCAD.

From parametric to dynamic 3D CAD

We used to have one of the most common CAD systems, but they didn't meet our requirements for a flexible workflow. The system was based on constraints which meant that we often had to redraw components as design intent(a term in CAD to define a relationship between objects, so that one change automatically propagates to another) did not meet our customers' needs. We also had to save out all of our parts and assemblies to our own files, which negatively impacted our productivity. So we didn't have the freedom to work in a single file for the specific project and then link the files out externally when it suited us. That's why we switched to IRONCAD a couple of years ago.

Drag-and-drop

We can now design our robotic cells and welding machines by drag-and-drop assemblies and parts from a catalogue. Our standard concept includes a fully or semi-automatic feeding system where we reuse proven solutions as much as possible. IRONCAD allows us to make changes completely free of design intent, so we can reuse details we have created before and modify them uniquely according to the customer's needs.

Moving parts

We never know what the next customer's needs are, but we can easily customize our products all thanks to IRONCAD's functionality. We design the way we want, no matter what the design looked like before. In IRONCAD we can use moving components and see how they affect other components in 3D. For example, we drag-and-drop a robot into the scene to see how it will move and make sure the robot arm extends far enough. Our customers are under constant pressure to deliver products faster and at the right price. With our solutions, we can give our customers what they want and help manufacturing companies stay competitive by increasing their production and lowering their costs through automation by our welding machines.
